Logos Hope to come back to Qatar

Doha 12th September 2013: Logos Hope, the largest floating book fair in the world will soon come back to Doha. The ship will dock at Doha Port from 10 to 21 next month.

It is the second visit of Logos Hope to Qatar.  First visit was in February 2011. It had welcomed over 44,000 visitors during its first visit. At present it is docked in Colombo. Before reaching in Doha it will halt in Muscat from October 1 to 8. The ship has been sailing around East Asia for the past 21 months.

400 volunteers from over 45 countries live on board handling everything from book sales to the complete operation of the ship.

Alexis Greene, hotel service manager of the ship said: “I’m really looking forward to going back to Qatar, especially the souqs. People are so hospitable and friendly.”

The book fair offers a vast selection of more than 5,000 books, which covers topics including science, sports, hobbies, cookery, the arts, medicine, dictionaries, languages and philosophy.

MV Logos Hope is managed by the German Christian charitable organization GBA Ships e.V. It had welcomed 42mn visitors over 150 countries and territories around the world since 1970. Logos was the first ship to carry a floating book fair. It operated from 1970 to 1988. Its successor was the Logos II which sailed from 1989-2008.Then came the Doulos which was used from 1977-2009. Logos Hope has been in operation from 2004 up to the current time.
