Sealine Beach Resort launches African cultural events

Doha 19th September 2013: The Sealine Beach Resort has launched the fourth edition of its annual African festival, a traditional event that celebrates Africa and its rich cultural heritage.

The event named ‘It’s time for Africa’ started on September 6 will continue on every Friday during September 13, 20 and 27.

The event holds cultural dance shows, traditional games, acrobatic stunts or masquerades to an extravagant fashion show showcasing traditional and contemporary African designs from the different regions of Africa.

The fourth edition of festival aims at bringing under one umbrella all African societies in the country to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the highly resourceful continent.

There were performances from North Africa including horse dance, a fusion of midget show, stick dance, and many other fun filled activities on September 6. On September 20, the stage will move to Sub- Saharan Africa featuring troupes from Mozambique, Ghana and Nigeria. The festival will wind up on September 27 with a celebratory event with Nigerian popular DJ Jimmy Jatt.

Abdul Shukoor, general manager said Sealine Beach Resort is a unique property in Qatar and it provide a platform for ethnic groups to showcase their cultural heritage.

People with Sealine membership can attend the event without fee. The charges for the adults are QR135. It is free for children below 11 years of age.
