Lekhwyiya seizes Vehicle Equipped for Smuggling Diesel

Doha 06th October 2013: A patrol team of Internal Security Force (Lekhwyiya) seized a private transport vehicle equipped to smuggle diesel.

The patrol team found the vehicle while it was stopped close to a roundabout inside Doha city.

The vehicle got suspicious seeing from outside, a statement from Ministry of Interior (MOI) said yesterday. Records indicate that the vehicle belongs to an expat and its permit has expired.

When the patrol reached the vehicle, the engine was running while the driver had escaped becoming aware of the presence of the police, according to the statement.

When the vehicle was checked, it became clear that the vehicle has been emptied from inside. A large tank has been set for storing diesel in order to smuggle it. The tank was hidden by empty carton boxes.

Internal Security Force Captain Ayid Al-Kaabi said that the patrol towed the vehicle and detained it. The vehicle has been handed over to the Capital Security Department for completing the investigation and taking the owner into custody.
