People across Qatar celebrated Eid al- Adha

Doha 16th October 2013: People across Qatar celebrated Eid al-Adha yesterday.

The Eid al adha day started with prayers in mosques and prayer grounds. HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, performed Eid Al Adha (Greater Bairam) prayer at Al Wajbah prayer ground yesterday. HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani, their Excellencies sheikhs, the ministers, ambassadors and the citizens also performed eid al adha prayer.

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) launched the 12 days Eid Al-Adha Festival yesterday evening. QTA is offering a variety of travel and hospitality packages for attracting more visitors during Eid holidays. QTA has launched different programmes in collaboration with various tourist and cultural organizations, shopping centres and entertainment facilities in Qatar. The partners for the festival include the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage; the Museum of Islamic Art, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum;  the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, the Pearl Qatar, Katara,; Sawt Al-Rayan; Qatar Air Sports Committee;  the Imam Muhammed bin Abdul Wahhab mosque, Aquapark Qatar; and Al Dosari Zoo and the Game Reserve.

The major attractions at Katara Cultural Village were a giant puppet show and the fireworks. Thousands watched a fireworks display at Katara yesterday night, which will be held daily from 9.30pm to 9.45pm until Friday. The theme of the puppet show deals with the story of Ali Baba and 40 Thieves.

The Smurfs show which started on Tuesday at The Gate Mall was a huge hit with kids.  SMURFS and Ben 10, the two incredibly popular animated shows are organized by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) as part of Eid festivities. The shows will be staged until the 20th  October 2013.
