In an effort to increase cooperation and boost Qatar – Brazil ties, Doha and Brasilia have become sister cities.
The twinning agreement between the two cities was described by HE Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari as one of the most important events this year.
The agreement will make way for enhanced cooperation between the two cities on construction, infrastructure, building permits and urban planning. Officials from the two towns will also cooperate on training programs and knowledge building on a wide range of issues ranging from waste management and recycling to health, hygiene and education
The agreement was signed by the director of Doha Municipality – Mohamed Al Sayed and Mr. Agnelo dos Santos Queiroz Filiho – the Governor of the Federal District of Brazil.
Brazil hosts the Fifa Football World Cup this year and Qatar would be hosting the event in 2022.
Doha is also expected to take over from Brazil as the new capital of sports and culture with the completion of Vision 2030 initiatives.
