Doha 05th May 2014: The new sponsorship law will be issued soon in Qatar, and it would benefit both the expatriates and citizens, according to Brigadier Nasser Mohamed al-Sayed, director of the Investigations and Follow-Up Department. He was talking to the local Arabic daily Arrayah.
“Regarding cancellation of sponsorship and exit permit system, I can say that soon there will be good news for all citizens and expatriates and it will be for the benefit of both the parties,” said Al Sayed.
The Ministry will make changes in the law, if there is a necessity to cancel the sponsorship or exit permit system and replace it with another system, according to him.
“The expected changes to the provisions and articles of the law will make everyone happy,” added Al Sayed.
Regarding complaints of foreign workers in Qatar, al-Sayed said that the Ministry will soon open an office for receiving job-related complaints from workers.
Referring to the problem of delay in payment, he said: “There are some companies which sign contracts for projects but don’t get the funds in time. This is causing delays in payment of salaries.”
