Khartoum, July 31 - The Sudanese government expressed their appreciation to the Qatari leadership for supporting Sudan in averting the effects of the floods and rains that swept many parts of the country
Representative of the Human Aid Commissioner in Sudan Mahmoud Shams al-Din said in remarks he gave this evening while receiving three Qatari planes carrying 48 tonnes of relief, shelter and health materials upon directives of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for sending emergency aid to Sudan to ward off the effects of the floods and rain, Sudan highly appreciated the Qatari leadership positions, especially that the State of Qatar is the first country to provide humanitarian aid to those affected,” adding that it came as an expression of the State of Qatar’s support for Sudan and its people. He praised the progress and development of the Sudanese-Qatari relations.
The Sudanese official pointed out that the State of Qatar maintained honorable positions with Sudan in all aspects, especially in the areas of disasters of which Sudan has been suffering.
Acting Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Qatar in Sudan, in addition to a number of Sudanese officials from the ministries of interior and defense were on hand to receive the Qatari aid airplanes.
