Museum of Islamic Art to organize ‘Haj-The Journey Through Art’

Doha 04th July 2013: The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in collaboration with the British Museum, London is organizing an exhibition titled ‘Haj — The Journey Through Art,’ at its special exhibition gallery.

To be held from October 9 to January 5, the exhibition is based on the concept and exhibition of Haj — Journey to the heart of Islam, which was held at the British Museum in 2012 and it is the first of its kind to be organized in a Muslim nation.

The expo, which is a part of Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture, will highlight one of the five pillars of Islam, Haj and focus on 3 themes-the routes taken by pilgrims, the tradition of Haj as depicted through art, and the experience of the pilgrims after completion of Haj.

A photography exhibition, featuring the works of international photographers Peter Sanders from Britain, Reem Al Faisal from Saudi Arabia, Kayuzoshi Nomachi from Japan, Juliette Sawyers from Australia and Khalifa Al Obaidly from Qatar will also be held.

MIA is also providing an opportunity to the Qatari residents to contribute their own souvenirs, gifts or objects related to Haj.
