Doha 19th April 2014: The Korean Embassy in cooperation with Korean Kite Fliers Association (KOKFA) organized a kite flying festival at the Museum of Islamic Art Park on Friday.
The festival was part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the State of Qatar.
The event featured many kinds of kites in varying sizes, a kite making workshop for children and an exhibition of traditional Korean kites.
“Phoenix,” an 800-m-long kite composed of 130 kites was the highlight of the festival.
Korean Ambassador to Qatar HE Chung Keejong and officials from Ministry of Culture Art and Heritage and Museum of Islamic Art were present at the opening session.
A total of eight varieties of kites were showcased at the exhibition. Fifteen children from different expatriate communities in the country took part at the work shop.
The festival will continue today. Another kite making workshop will be held today at Katara from 4.30pm to 5.30pm
