Doha 15th August 2013 : Qatari rock star Naser Mestarihi has released his debut full length LP 1987 which is his second solo effort following his eponymous critically acclaimed EP released in 2010 which was the first official rock release out of Qatar. It is now available on iTunes and Virgin Megastore outlets in Qatar.
The album has been featured in various publications such as Rolling Stone Middle East and online music zines. It has received critical acclaim for attempting to put Qatari rock music on the map.
The record was launched in Dubai at the renowned live venue The Music Room. 1987 and its first single Exodus Highway have both received positive reviews from Rolling Stone Magazine. Both acquired a 3/5 stars review score.
1987 is scheduled for release in UAE and Bahrain within the coming months.
Naser, a self-taught multi-instrumentallist played the instruments in the album, produced the album and funded its entire production and release without the aid of a label.
He was a winner in the Zippo Encore Middle East competition and his goal is to put Qatar’s music scene on the international map and to influence resurgence in the rock scene in Doha for artists who would like to subsequently release their own music.
