Doha Film Institute to present Metro Manila from October 3-8

Doha 24th September 2013: Doha Film Institute (DFI) presents the MENA premiere of the Metro Manila, a well staged crime drama set in the Philippines from 3rd to 8th of October at Katara Drama Theatre, Building 16.

Metro Manila is the story of Oscar Ramirez and his wife Mia, who take their two children to Manila, in the hope that he can better their poor condition in the capital.  But Oscar accidentally becomes involved in the dark criminal underworld inhabited by his new boss and is caught between wanting to do the right thing and needing to care for  his family.

The film is directed by Sean Ellis and produced by Mathilde Charpentier and Sean Ellis.  Ellis is a British director who had nominated for Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film, BAFTA Award for Best Short Film.

Metro Manila has achieved the applause of many across the globe. It received the Audience Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
