Doha 22nd January 2014: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has been nominated and shortlisted for six awards at the Arab Health Innovation and Achievement Awards 2014, which will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on January 28.
The awards which run alongside Arab Health, aims to honor individuals or organisations for their valuable contributions to the growth and development of the healthcare sector in the region.
The corporation has been shortlisted in four categories including Excellence in Radiology, Excellence in Surgery Services, Excellence in Patient Centered Care for the Cancer Transformation Programme and three HMC doctors have been shortlisted for the Cleveland Clinic Young Physician of the Year Award – Hamad General Hospital (HGH) Intensive Care medical director Dr Ibrahim M Fawzy Hassan; HGH Internal Medicine and Rheumatology specialist Dr Magdi Hassan Osman; and HGH Paediatric Surgery specialist Dr Tariq O Abbasi.
“At HMC, we strive to achieve excellence in care for our patients. We are also working to the National Health Strategy for Qatar, the National Cancer Strategy for Qatar and the National Vision 2030, all of which support our ambition for patient-centred care. It is a great honour for our work to be recognised in this way by the Arab Health Awards committee and for these doctors and projects to be shortlisted out of all the submissions from across the region,” said Hanan al-Kuwari, managing director at HMC.

Around 85, 000 visitors with 3,900 exhibitors from 64 nations across the world are expected at this year’s Arab Health, one of the largest healthcare trade shows in the world.
