Doha likely will get to host 2019 World Military Games

Doha 31st October 2013: Qatar is bidding for the 2019 World Military Games, and most likely will get to host the event, it was revealed yesterday by officials at a press conference held at the Losail Shooting Complex.

“I am sure Qatar with all its experience in hosting world class international events will put up a great show if Doha wins the 2019 bid,” said Lt Col Walter Borghino, the president of the CISM Sports Commission.

He also praised Qatar for its outstanding sports facilities and organisational abilities. Doha would be a favourite and ideal host city, he added.  CISM was waiting for an official letter of intent from the sporting authorities in Qatar before the formal bidding process gets underway, said Walter.

“The bidding process will start next year. After receiving the bids, an evaluation commission will be appointed by CISM and based on the report of the commission, the Games will be awarded,” said Borghino.
