Doha 03rd May 2014:  Al Arabi won inaugural Qatar Cup volleyball championship  after defeating El Jaish at Al Arabi Sports Club Indoor Hall on Friday.

Al Arabi beat El Jaish 23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15.

It was Al Arabi’s first domestic title since the 2012 Heir Apparent’s Cup triumph, when they had beaten Al Ahli Club.

Al Arabi team received the prize of QR 300,000 from Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) President Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi, while El Jaish earned QR 150,000.

The next big volleyball event is the 2014 Emir Cup.

Al Arabi coach Mohammad al Bahri said: “I’m very satisfied that we are the winners again after a gap of two years. I’m very happy with my team and their total commitment. This victory has restored the confidence in the players and I’m sure we’ll play well in the upcoming Emir Cup too.”
