Strong winds, waves and tides hit coastal Britain

London 04th January 2013: Strong winds and monster storm hit western coast of Britain yesterday.

Many areas of coastal Britain were flooded on Friday in winds of more than 70mph and waves as high as 30feet.

Wales, southwest England and Northern Ireland were the worst-hit regions.

Two were killed in northern England and Northern Ireland.

Some western rivers also burst their banks.

Hundreds of homes were evacuated.

Heavy rains and unusually high tides also caused flooding in many coastal towns in northwestern France.

Weather forecasters have warned there will be severe flooding throughout the weekend.
