29 injured as Saudi jet makes emergency landing in Medina

Riyadh 07th January 2014: At least 29 people were injured on Sunday morning during Saudi Arabian Airline plane’s emergency landing due to a technical fault in Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz airport in Madinah.

The Saudi Boeing 767-300ER, coming from the Iranian city of Mashhad, had 315 passengers on board, including 16 crew members.

The aircraft failed to open its right rear wheels when landing at the airport. The plane landed after making two unsuccessful attempts, according to reports.

Among the injured, 11 were transferred to the hospital and the other 18 with minor injuries were treated at the airport’s clinic.

The aircraft landed without its wheel and the runway was damaged.

The airport was closed for 24 hours after the incident and all domestic and international flights were cancelled.
