m_Oil train derails and catches fire in Virginia

New York 01st May 2014: A train carrying crude oil derailed and exploded in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia yesterday.

The incident happened at 2:30 p.m. EST, according to the reports. Thousands of barrels of crude oil spilled in to the nearby James River.

The accident resulted in the release of large fireball, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of people.

The cause of the accident is not yet known.

The fire had been extinguished after two hours and residents were allowed to return to their homes at around 6.00 p.m.

There were no reports of any injuries.
